20 Jun Time for the Self
“Why Kindness is Good for You” is a wonderful book written by David R. Hamilton. In it he writes about ‘Kindness Towards Ourselves.’ He states that “Kindness towards ourselves goes a long way… Sometimes, just a little time out can be a tonic for the soul, picking us up when we feel frazzled by the stresses and strains of our daily lives. This might mean even having a day or even a few hours to ourselves.”
Besides meditating every morning, once a week I have a guitar lesson. This is my “me-time.” Since I’ve been having these lessons, and also practising regularly at home, I have found that I am more peaceful, I feel happier, and I also feel more helpful, and have more energy. I encourage everyone reading this to make some time for yourself! Whether it be a walk, spending time in nature, reading, resting, a spa treatment or massage, exploring your creativity through painting, photography or drawing, taking a class, or just simply some time to yourself for complete and utter silence.
