Nature is Awesome

Nature is Awesome

Spring is here! I love nature, and yesterday I spent some time in the city, walking through beautiful Hyde Park here in Sydney. I really noticed all of the trees and flowers yesterday, beauty is all around us! Take some time to spend a few moments in nature. Enjoy the sunshine, and let the cool breeze refresh you. Be mindful of the abundance of beautiful flowers that are blooming, and take in their scent. Then, enjoy the gorgeousness of a clear, starry night sky. I believe we are innately connected to nature. Nature is a gift that is here for us – enjoy it! Yes, nature must be balanced, and it doesn’t always seem so pleasant, however, nature teaches us to be in the moment, to remind us of impernanence (that everything changes),  and also allows us to experience the beauty and peace that is all around us! Nature can also be symbolic – the delicate nature of life is reflected in the fragility of the petals of flowers. The changing of the seasons reminds of changes in our own lives. Meditate in, and on nature.

Recent research has confirmed that the healing power of nature is more than just a poetic metaphor. Studies show that elderly adults who’s homes are near green space and trees tend to live longer, regardless of their social and economic situations. Students also perform better when they study at desks stationed before windows that open to natural settings, and those who work with an office with a window that looks out at grass and trees, suffer less from mental and mood disorder symptoms.

If you are feeling stressed or run down, or unwell, go outside for a few moments, take a few deep breaths, and allow the Spring!power of nature to flow through you, calming you, settling your energies, and healing you.

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet, and the winds long to play with your hair” ~ Kahlil Gibran
